Growing the Drupal community: Local groups and the Drupal.org redesign

The Drupal project has become explosively popular and risen as a top choice in web content management and social publishing. The community has propelled this growth through organic events organized around the world. There are now over 150 local groups and an estimated 800 Drupal learning events scheduled to happen in 2008. How did this happen, and what are the trends in this social activity?

While we are growing locally the Drupal community is redesigning a new home for the Drupal project to make it easier to learn about Drupal and participate in the project. Get some insight into this exciting open design project involving hundreds of contributors.

Kieran will walk through the history of this design project and show what is being proposed for the new Drupal.org. We will spend half the session breaking into groups and contributing to the redesign itself.
